Special Delivery

My box of goodies!

I just received my first delivery from Good Eggs, a hub that allows local farmers & foodmakers sell direct through farmers’ markets, pick-ups, and home deliveries.  I ordered an assortment from Serendipity Farms in Carmel Valley, and was so excited to see what all I would get!

This order was an experiment.  I’ve considered signing up for a CSA, but I don’t know how much fresh produce I can go through before it starts to go bad.  When I shop at farmers’ markets, I usually only shop for 2-3 days worth of food.  I have a fear of rotten vegetables.  They make me so sad!  I wanted to see how this first order goes before I sign up for something more permanent.

All spread out. Lots of things to enjoy!

I ordered strawberries, cooking greens, and salad greens and veggies.  I didn’t know what the green assortments would include, but was pleased to see kale, beets, Swiss chard, watercress, and parsley, among other things.  I’m having some friends over for brunch on Saturday, and am going to use some of the greens (chard and parsley, for sure) to make a frittata.  Check back next week for the recipe!

Beautiful strawberries

The strawberries are delicious!  They’re also an incredible color.  I’m planning to make Strawberries Poached in Sparkling Wine and Vanilla with some of the berries.  I already picked up some coconut milk ice cream to serve with them!

Chard, Beets, and Kale

I’m very pleased with the quality of what I got, and also with the service.  I received emails confirming my order and reminding me of the delivery date and time, and got a phone call today to make sure I was home.  The woman that called me and handed over box of goodies was so pleasant!  It’s been a great experience so far.

More green goodies

Do you order through a CSA?  If so, how frequently?

Happy Eating!
